Daily Duties:
Candidates will be trained to fabricate architectural aluminium windows, doors and curtain wall in the following systems Kawneer and Metal Technology. They will be trained to use various hand tools such as drills, drilling jigs, screwdrivers and measuring tapes. Candidates will also be trained to use small machines such as vertical routers, pillar drills, chop saws and window corner crimpers. Candidates will be trained in all aspects of fabrication from cutting and preparing material to assembling and completing frames for dispatch. All aspects of production will be taught alongside the companies health and safety procedures and quality system. Other duties will be allocated as appropriate including general housekeeping. Whilst in full-time employment you will undertake the following qualifications:
- NVQ Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations
- Certificate in Engineering Technologies
- Essential Skills in Application of Number and Communication
Personal Qualities:
- Keen to pursue a career in the industry
- Punctual and reliable
- Able to work well with others
- Able to follow instructions
- A good grasp of basic mathematical principles i.e. able to read drawings and measurements
- Must be prepared to travel once a month to Pyle for off-the-job training, mandatory requirement of the apprenticeship

XR Training recruits apprentices on behalf of employers. We aim to make our recruitment process as smooth as possible for both potential apprentices and employers, acting as the facilitator for both parties.
Our Business Development team reviews applications received every day, and checks them against employer’s needs. Suitable applications are forwarded to employers for their review, at which point they are under consideration for interview. All interviews will occur at the employer’s premises, however you may be invited to an informal interview at the training centre. This would be to ensure suitability for the apprenticeship programme.
