Performing Manufacturing Operations Foundation Apprenticeship

What is a performing manufacturing operations foundation apprenticeship?

A work-based learning programme that allows you to earn a wage and work whilst studying towards industry recognised qualifications.

This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of employment and onsite assessment, covering maintenance and manufacturing engineering processes and techniques that can be carried forward into the world of work.

This apprenticeship is designed for those working within manufacturing and maintenance that wish to become a qualified engineer, regardless of experience.

How does it work?

The apprenticeship for performing engineering operations is assessed onsite at your place of work. In addition, your assessor will regularly visit you at your workplace and onsite to carry out reviews and complete observations.

What qualifications will be achieved?

Apprenticeship programmes follow a standardised framework, i.e. a combination of qualifications that you must complete in order to successfully achieve. On completion of the mechanical engineering apprenticeship, candidates will achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations
  • Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Technologies
  • Level 2 Essential Communication Skills
  • Level 2 Essential Application of Number Skills

Routes and pathways can be tailored to suit the needs of the learner and employer dependant on job role, duties undertaken and work completed. Exemptions can be made for Essential Skills qualifications depending on prior attainment.

All engineering manufacture qualifications are accredited through EAL.

2 years maximum. The course can be completed sooner if you have prior engineering qualifications that meet the framework requirements.

All candidates are subject to a robust initial assessment via the Wales Essential Skills Toolkit to assess levels of literacy and numeracy prior to enrolment.
